A REAL-TIME GABOR FILTER BASED FACE DETECTION AND FACE RECOGNITION

Abstract

Face detection has attained an vital role in enormous fields in the recent years and is
considered to be a promising technology in the near future. Face detection is a computer based technology
that is used in a variety of applications that identifies human faces in digital images. The main objective is to
detect and recognize the faces from an real time videos and to improve accuracy and decrease the error-rate
of the face detection and recognition. Fuzzy logic is included in the face detection so as to improve the speed
to a good extent and the Gabor filter is applied to extract the features. The extracted features are compared to
recognize the faces which are stored in the database. Simulation is done by using MATLAB R2013 and the
performance results are also analyzed. The results shows a good improvement in the face detection and face
recognition. The accuracy obtained by this method is nearly equal to 0.9 and the error rate is also to reduced
to 0.1.
