AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON PERVIOUS CONCRETE USING SCRAP RUBBER

Abstract

The concrete technology has made tremendous strides in past decades. Among various types of
concrete such as high performance concrete, self compacting concrete, light weight concrete, etc pervious
concrete plays a different role which is an exceptional case. Normal concrete does not allow water to pass
through it whereas pervious concrete allows water to pass through it. The principal reason to develop this
type of concrete is to use this concrete for pavements, open floors, etc since rain water may pass through it
and increases the ground water table. The objective of this research is to determine the effects of varying the
components of pervious concrete and its behavior are estimated. The project deals with achieving maximum
compression strength and permeability in concrete. In this investigation, the pervious concrete is obtained by
removing the fine aggregate wholly (0%) and partially as, 10% replacing the coarse aggregate and partially
as 5% and 10% of scrap rubber replacing the coarse aggregate.
The main aim of this project is to lay the pervious concrete in platform and car parking thus
transmitting the water to the underground surface very easily for maintaining the ground water table even in
all the places.
