The development of a GSM Power Meter Reading and Distribution Control System with
customer classification is presented in this paper. The GPMDC System is made up of multiple GSM Power Meters and Electricity billing Information System. The GSM Power Meter which utilize the GSM network to send the power usage reading back to the energy provider wirelessly. At the energy provider side Electricity billing system is use to manage all SMS meter reading, compute the billing cost, update the database, and SMS the billing statement back to its respective user for payment notification. The
GPMDC also feature distribution control system to cut off power supply of consumer incase of nonpayment of electricity bill. Customer class load profiles are widely used in distribution network analysis. They are used in distribution network load flow calculation, state estimation, planning calculation and tariff planning. The customer classification can be made by using clustering algorithms. Individual load profiles can also be formulated from the AMR measurements.
