CORROSION INHIBITORY ACTION OF EMBLICA LEAVES COMPARED WITH MUSA PEEL EXTRACT ON MILD STEEL CORROSION IN 2M H2SO4 ACID MEDIUM

Abstract

The inhibitor of corrosion of mild steel by Emblica leaves compared with the musa peel
extract under the concentration of H2SO4 .The inhibitive and adsorptive properties of ethanol extract of plant extract for the corrosion of mild steel rod in 2.0 M of H2SO4 solutions was investigated using weight loss method. The inhibition efficiencies of both Emblica officinalist and musa sapientium peel increases with increase in concentration and decrease with corrosion rate.The result has proved that the Emblica leaf extract is good inhibitor efficiency as compared with musa peel extract in H2SO4 solution. The
Emblica leaf obtain inhibitor efficiency ranged 80% at 24 hours, but in case of musa extract take 120 hours to obtain 65 % in H2SO4.It was concluded that peel extract and Emblica leaf extract can be used as corrosion inhibitor as this will reduce the importation cost and this will make environmental free of toxic chemical inhibitor.
