SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIMICROBIALACTIVITY OF Co (II), Cu (II), Ni (II) AND Mn (II) METAL COMPLEXES OF SCHIFFBASE LIGAND DERIVED FROM ISATIN AND PICOLINE

Abstract

A new Schiff base was synthesized from isatin and picoline and its metal complexes were prepared from chloride salts of Cu(II), Ni(II), Mn(II) and Co(II). The complexes are found to be insoluble in water but soluble in DMF and DMSO. The complexes were characterized by spectral studies like UV,IR and NMR. The main purpose of these studies is concerns to the antimicrobial activity of the ligand and their complexes.
