WANDERMATE: AN AI-POWERED SMART TRAVEL COMPANION APP WITH AR NAVIGATION AND REAL TIME ITINERARY PLANNING

Abstract

Planning a trip typically involves coordinating various elements like transportation, lodging, weather, and nearby attractions, which makes the process both time-intensive and misorganised. Numerous current applications tackle these elements separately, requiring users to depend on several platforms instead of one integrated option. This paper introduces WanderMate, an AI-driven cross-platform mobile app for travel companionship, developed using React Native ( v0.81.5), Expo SDK 54, and TypeScript. It employs smart itinerary planning, interactive map navigation, real-time weather updates, a community based approach for hidden spot discovery with community engagement and a Groq AI-powered chatbot into a seamless user experience. The backend employs Supabase for data storage and user authentication, whereas Groq AI's chat completion endpoint powers customized travel suggestions. WanderMate integrates technologies including react-native -maps Leaflet combined with OpenStreetMap, and offline storage solutions to provide a responsive and context-sensitive travel experience. Initial testing indicates that the application reduces user effort in planning while providing relevant and adaptive travel guidance.
