A STUDY ON PROCESS OF GETTING ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE

Abstract

Our  country  India  is a  developing  country.  In  a developing  country,  the  rate  of  growth  in the infrastructure  and industrial sectors are rapid when compared to other developed countries. Due to this rapid growth, the environment also gets polluted rapidly. So Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) – India, has framed norms and monitors  the upcoming  development  in all sectors.  In this way the Environmental Clearance  (EC)  is  very  essential  to  initiate  a  project.  Environmental   Impact  Assessment  (EIA)  is  the important evaluation for EC process. It specifies that the project has mitigated impacts to the environment. There  are  certain  restrictions   and prohibition   on  new  project  or  activities,   or  on  the expansion   or modernization  of existing projects based on their potential environmental  impacts. In any part of India, prior Environmental  Clearance  has  been  accorded  in accordance  with the objectives  of National  Environment Policy as approved  by The Union  Cabinet.  In this journal,  we are going to study the process  involved  in Environmental  Clearance.
