AUTOMATED FIN PRESSING AND FEEDING MECHANISM FOR 20 TORCH MEMBRANE PANEL WELDING MACHINE

Abstract

 From the inception of BHEL Trichy, water wall panels for all utility boilers of all capacit ies were being welded through manual process and subsequently switched over to the machine (Submerged Arc) welding. High production processes are the need of the hour to meet the enhanced water wall panel welding production requirement with international quality standards at BHEL Trichy. Hence due to advancement in modern science, Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and followed by Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/MAG) processes were introduced at Tubular production shop/Building 50.One such introduction of GMAW (MIG/MAG) process was successfully implemented by commissioning of 20 Torch Membrane Panel Welding Machine (MPM), at Bay 1, Tubular production shop/Building 50, Unit  - I, HPBP, BHEL Trichy under Capacity Augmentation Scheme/PHASE-I for 20000 MW.  It consists of an Uncoiler unit, Fin Welding Bench, Fin Blast Machine, Fin Calibration Machine, Fin Cutting Machine, Fin Feeding Conveyor, Fin Stock Table and Fin Supplying Device.  As per existing arrangement Fin Stock Table and Fin Supplying Device is located at a distance around 2 metres. Thus in this project it is proposed to mechanize fin pressing and feeding arrangement for movement of fins from the Fin Stock Table to Fin Supplying Device,  So that lead time for panel preparation can be reduced.
