EMBEDDED CONTROL SMART WALKING BEACON DEVICES FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE
Abstract
This project proposes a structure for visually impaired people by means of beacon and Android mobile. The proposed construction is contained of three parts. The aim is to help visually impaired/blind people to knowledge the environment in which they live by. Three tests applied in real environment. The outcomes show good presentation for the suggested scheme help the visually impaired/blind people reach the required devices locality positively without mistake. In conclusion, beacon and smart phone were a valid and consistent method to help the visually impaired/blind people to know the position of devices that are adjacent from him in indoor atmosphere. The proposed system called Guide Beacon is a full-ledged navigation resolution using wireless sensor networks (WSN) for ambient disorder detection, routing engines for navigation, and PDAs as the user borderline, to assist with indoor way finding for persons with multiple special needs. Ambient intelligence such as insufficient light and wet floors can be critical to way finding for the targeted population. The system allows users equipped with smartphones to interact with low cost Bluetooth-based beacons deployed strategically within the indoor space of interest to circumnavigate their surroundings. The unsighted people need assistance for moving around. They use a stick to detect any problem in their path and move everywhere therefore. They usually try to estimate the immediacy with an obstacle by drumming it and try to learn its distance from them based on the sound of the hit. The device designed in this scheme uses an ultrasonic sensor to control the detachment from an obstacle and attaches with the Android phone through Bluetooth to produce a voice alert.
