EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON LIGHT WEIGHT CONCRETE USING WASTE CERAMIC TILES
Abstract
This present world is very much depends on the concrete for the construction of various infrastructural activitiesIn India it has been estimated that nearly 30% of the daily production of ceramic tiles goes on waste during manufacturing, transportation and usage and at the same time the demand for coarse aggregate was increased day by day.In design of concrete structures, light weight concrete plays a prominent role in reducing the concrete density and to increase the thermal insulation. This study aims in achieving an acceptable ordinary strength concrete with waste ceramic tiles as substitute of natural coarse aggregate. The light weight concrete is made with the waste ceramic t iles at 0% 15% 30% 45%&60% for the concrete grade of M20.A constant water cement ratio of 0.5 is maintained throughout for all the mixes. The characteristics of
concrete such as workability for fresh concrete also compressive strength split tensile strength for hardened concrete is checked out at 7 days and 28days for each percentage of replacement. For each percentage of replacement 3 numbers of specimens are made and at last compared with the normal M20 grade concrete.
