NFC BASED SMART SHOPPING AND AUTOMATIC BILLING

Abstract

Ubiquitous Computing for shopping giving a new way of providing shopping standard and offers Smarter Environment where users can shop intelligently. Many systems are using the RFID technology for reducing the billing time during shopping. But the cost of RFID is of a greater consideration. The objective of this paper is based on providing a smart service to people in shopping malls using the NFC-Near Field Communication technology. The trolleys in the shopping malls are enabled with a NFC reader which scans the products that are associated with the NFC tags. Arduino board is used here to provide the product database. If the product is dropped into the trolley without scanning, the IR proximity sensor will detect the product and is alerted by the buzzer. If one want to remove the purchased products, then that particular products is made to read again by the reader and the delete button is pressed to delete the product. The LCD displays product information along with the total cost of the products in the trolley. The product details are retrived from trolley to the system using Zigbee and also to the customer mobile using ESP8266-Wifi with IOT technology. By this the billing time delay will be reduced. Thus this system provides an enhanced way for shopping to the customers in a reduced cost and efficient mechanism.
