AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON M-SAND IN FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE BY USING STEEL FIBRE AND JUTE FIBRE

Abstract

Performance of Conventional concrete is enhanced by the additional of fibres in concrete. Adding a single type of fibre into concrete has limited functions, so many current researches are oriented to the development of hybrid fibre in concrete to obtain better mechanical properties. To enhance the quality of fibre reinforced concrete the fibre is added into the concrete. It provides the better and improved the properties of concrete. The addition of fibre reduce the workability of concrete and the addition of superplasticizer counteracts the reduce of workability of concrete. The main reason for steel and jute fibre used in concrete matrix is to improve the ductility and to provide crack resistance and crack control.  The addition of steel fibre increase the tensile properties of concrete. This investigation is to study the properties like Compressive strength, Tensile strength and Flexural strength of fibre reinforced concrete with varying fibre (Steel and Jute) content of 0.5%, 1.0% & 1.5 % by weight of cement.
