EXPERIMENTS ON THE INFLUENCE OF EDM PARAMETERS ONMACHINING CHARACTERISTICS FOR AZ31 Mg ALLOY
Abstract
Step by step numerous new materials are coming in to use because of persistent interest from the military, aviation and medicinal fields for machining many-intricate shapes. The traditional machining process can't meet the necessity in view of increased hardness and strength of new materials. Non-traditional strategies are observed to be suitable for these conditions. Advancements to improve the material rate and diminish the apparatus wear rate accomplish the great surface completion and dimensional accuracy in Electrical discharge Machining (EDM).The present work is gone for describing the electric discharge machining of AZ31 Mg on EDM with the copper electrode. Twenty-seven analyses are experimented by changing EDM parameters, for example, current, pulse and gap voltage. Each test was performed for material removal of 0.5mm. The EDM 500 was the die-electric fluid used for this experiment. In the experiment Metal Removal Rate (MRR) and Surface Roughness (Ra) is surveyed. Plan of experiment layout was finished utilizing Taguchi strategy to examine the impact of every parameter on the machining qualities, and to foresee the ideal decision for each EDM parameter. The investigation of the Taguchi technique reveals that every parameter has its significant changes in the MRR and roughness values. The unique parameter combination can be selected from the L27 table for the specific purpose like accurate surface finish, least MRR or fast machining.
