CHARACTERISTIC STUDY ON POLYMER REINFORCED CONRETE WITH WASTE MATERIAL

Abstract

In order to counteract the environmental problem, industrial waste materials is used in the field of construction which is also economical. Industrial by products such as Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and Fly ash which can be partially replaced component for cement in concrete and it is eco - friendly. This paper reports on experimental program to investigate characteristic study of polymer concrete with waste materials. Highly desirable mechanical is mostly on the outperforms of polymer concrete. It is a high compressive, tensile and flexural strengths, short curing time, impact resistance, chemical resistance and freeze–thaw durability by using these materials. In the building construction industry it has many applications. Two types of resins (unsaturated polyester and epoxy resin) combined with fly ash; GGBS and sand were used to make the polymer concrete. The objective of this work is to investigate the flexural behavior of beams containing GGBS and FA by experimental in M20 grade concrete. Polymer concrete specimens by using industrial wastes with monomers are prepared with various proportions like 30 and 35% GGBS and 35 and 40% Fly ash. These test results were comparing with ordinary concrete specimens to obtain the optimum waste dosage of materials.
