EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON CONCRETE ADMIXED WITH CENOSPHERES AND VERMICULITE
Abstract
Concrete, a single most generally used artifact throught the planet. Concrete is employed in large amounts because it’s only and very good artifact. Now a day, due to constant sand mining the natural sand is depleting at an alarming rate. During this case fine aggregate is partially replaced with cenospheres and vermiculite. The employment of cenospheres in concrete will tend to cut back the density of concrete and thereby it increases the workability. Similarly, use of vermiculite in concrete will enhance the shrinkage and crack resistance, fire resistance and reduce environmental impact and also reduce the price. During this present study, a shot has been made to check the mechanical properties of M20 grade concrete with different percentages at a spread of 10%, 20% and 30% as partial replacement of cenospheres and vermiculite to the full weight of fine aggregates. Marginal increases within the strength were observed for concrete specimens admixed with cenospheres, whereas the strength decreases for vermiculite when put next with control concrete.
