QUICK PORTABLE ATTENDANCE USING BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION
Abstract
For an institution with a sufficient number of employees, attendance monitoring becomes a cumbersome task. Attendance monitoring when done effectively, will increase the productivity of the employees and the institution would accomplish the targeted goals. Manual records of attendance monitoring would eventually increase the error rate and will be a time-consuming process. Moreover, it triggers the chances of fraudulent time management that indirectly affects the institution’s progress. On the other hand, biometric systems adopted for attendance monitoring would record the time-in and time-out based on the fingerprint. The employees may not be displayed with the total number of working hours. Taking these two factors under consideration, namely, time and frauds with manual records and missing additional information, this project is proposed to provide a solution for the same. Systems under study reveal the combination of hardware and software to record fingerprints and match it with the existing data store. The proposed work is purely an android application that encompasses the fingerprint recognition process through mobile phones. The attendance is recorded based on the fingerprint in the mobile database itself. The users are allowed to record their fingerprints only within the proximity of the institution and within the prescribed time.
