Attendance management system is to note down the performance of the students in the school, colleges etc. In the conventional method the attendance of the students are took by calling out the names of students or signing on paper that is extremely time consuming. To eliminate this problem one of the solutions is a biometric based attendance system by capturing the fingerprints. In this paper we have developed fingerprint based biometric system using raspberry pi 3. Raspberry pi is compact microcomputer with boundless abilities similar to pc. Fingerprint recognition is regarded as one of the most reliable, accurate and efficient system. Then the module enrols the student’s fingerprints. Enrolling is one time process. The fingerprints are stored in the fingerprint sensor .the attendance of each student is displayed on lcd. Then the sms will be send to their registered mobile number using the gsm module.
