Construction companies handle a lot of uncertainties and problems that may cause a major impact on the completion of the project either as a part or as a whole. Supply chain management ascertains the possibilities of the uncertainties and the application of supply chain management philosophy to the construction industry results in efficient management measures and plays an important strategy to improve the performance of the construction. Based on the literature research four important factors concerning the betterment of supply chain management are compiled to form the questionnaire. A survey in the form of a questionnaire was distributed amongst 20 construction companies in Tamilnadu, thus ensuring sampling diversity. It not only highlights the valuable data but also the views of their supply chain departments. By using the data obtained from the survey and the knowledge available in the literature, the paper proposes the major factor causing an impact on construction projects using the relative important index and frequency index, thus it can be taken care of. It also helps to provide a general outline of supply chain management and its implications for a newly opting construction company based on the expertise provided through questionnaires.
