A REVIEW ON DIABETIC MACULOPATHY DETECTION METHODOLOGY

Abstract

Retina is a light-sensitive layer of tissue and translates the image into electrical neural impulses to the brain to create visual perception. The macula is the functional center of the retina that provides the best color vision and the ability to read whereas the rest of the retina provides peripheral vision. Defect in the macula or macular edema is known as Diabetes Maculopathy. The retinal eccentricity effect is due to Diabetes Mellitus, which leads to fluid accumulation and swelling. Diabetes Mellitus induced ocular disease caused by high blood sugar levels can lead to vision loss. This disease is classified into Non-proliferative and Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy. Sometimes the macula begins to swell know as macular edema, which is a condition that requires treatment. In another case, antivascular endothelial growth factor and can affect vitreous humor.
