IMPACT OF FLOOD 2018 IN KERALA
Abstract
Kerala have a high hazards profile and the climate change effect and their associated risk
factors. In Kerala the most common disaster that affects people, infrastructure and environment is flood. The
2018 flood have caused server damage and loss of life. The districts most affected by the worst flood were
Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulum, Thrissur, Wayanad, Malappuram, Kottayam, Palakad and Idukki.
The flood took many lives, houses were fully and partially damaged and agriculture losses were also
occurred. As it was the worst flood experience the state had after 1924 the preparedness methods were not
ready and lack of proper training had led to the extensive loss.
